How to quickly kill a fly
Content
Flies - annoying insects that appear on the street with the arrival of spring. But in the room pests can be found at any time of the year, as long as the apartment is warm. By their presence, these small creatures give a person a lot of inconvenience, irritating you with a tedious buzz and a delicate touch. Therefore, everyone wants to get rid of such an undesirable neighborhood as quickly as possible, facing another problem, as it is very difficult to kill a fly.
What attracts the insect in the house of man
Flies as a squad are omnivores. Some species live near the dwellings of people, using the same foods as humans. They recognize odors much better than humans. Moreover, insects are attracted by the aromas of both fresh and rotten fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, pastries and various sweets.
Important!
Some species of flies in addition to human food, they feed on the blood of humans and domestic animals, becoming carriers of very dangerous diseases (typhoid, hepatitis, cholera, etc.).
Why fly is hard to kill
However, often trying to slam this annoying creature, a person is faced with the fact that it is very difficult to catch a fly. This raises the question of why flies are fast and how they feel the danger approaches.
Having done a lot of research, the specialists managed to establish that a person cannot quickly kill a fly because of its superior vision. This is explained by the fact that all living beings with organs of vision perceive the world around us in the form of a continuous flow of visual images.
Separate images that the retina catches are fed to the brain and processed by it at a certain rate, referred to as the critical flicker fusion frequency (CFFF).Every living creature has this indicator:
- in turtles it is 15 Hz;
- in humans 60 Hz;
- in dogs - 80 Hz;
- flies - 250 Hz.
Interesting!
In some members of the fly family, receptors are able to respond up to 400 times per second (almost 6 times faster than the human eye). And this means that the latter process the visual information much faster than people. That is why the reaction of the fly and man is different.
This fact is explained by the structure of the fly's eye. Complicated facet-type insect eyes consist of 6-cornered omacidi (ommatidia), which have their own receptors and lenses. This makes it possible for each peephole to independently record the appearing and disappearing objects in the field of view. Having a high reaction rate, flies are able to notice the slightest movement. In this connection, when it seems to us that we are moving at lightning speed, for annoying pests we remain a creeping turtle.
How and what to kill a fly
It's easy to get rid of insects by using chemicals or folk methods. However, the most popular method of breeding flies is the mechanical method.
Duct tape
This method of getting rid of annoying insects is notable for its availability and simple principle of action. The fixture is a a strip of paper or silicone that is coated with a special sticky compoundhaving attractive scent for flies. Touching the sticky surface, the insects die.
Fumigator
A device that makes it much more efficient to kill insects in the room. It is enough for this to use a special plate or liquid. Plugged in fumigator begins to heat the element, due to which evaporation of the repellent composition occurs. Scent scares not only flies, but also mosquitoes, midges and other harmful insects.
Fly swatter
The old proven way to destroy flies is a fly swatter. It is a long cane, to the end of which is attached a piece of soft rubber or silicone. Replacing such a device is capable of a towel or a newspaper rolled up several times. The disadvantage of this method is the difficulty in hitting the target. In the case of achieving the goal, there is a need to clean the traces of a crushed insect.
To hit the target and kill a fly correctly at home, you need to follow these guidelines:
- An attempt to attack an insect during flight will not give proper results, as an annoying pest is able to change its direction of lightning speed with lightning speed.
- Approaching an uninvited guest is better as slowly as possible. Speed in this case is not the best option. This fact is explained by the fact that insects notice smooth movements much worse.
- To destroy the pest, it is advisable to get close to it from behind, because its field of view is less than 360 degrees.
- Choosing a fly swatter, you should give preference to the adaptation of lighter tones. Such a "weapon of battle" will be less noticeable on the background of wallpaper.
- A blow with a swatter will be accurate if applied not directly on the target, but slightly forward in the direction of movement of the individual. Body structure of a fly does not allow her to move backwards.
